Street Level Launch

The yard fence couldn't hold me for long. I slipped right under the bottom rail, hit the concrete, and there it was—a wide, open sidewalk stretching out into the morning like an endless runway. Right near the curb, someone had dropped a shiny yellow bottle cap. Perfect checkpoint marker. I locked my eyes on it, leaned forward, and bolted straight down the chalky gray slabs. One smooth hurdle right over a dandelion crack, a quick spin around the cap, and I planted my red sneakers on the curb edge. First run on the real street, completely nailed.
