Cooling Down
A warrior knows when to cool down. My knuckles were still humming from testing that wooden wedge earlier. I marched across the dark floorboards straight to the base of the low glass window. Outside, the night stretched wide and pitch black, punctuated by distant streetlights. Tch. My reflection stared back at me from the dark pane, unflinching. I pressed my palm flat against the chilled surface. A faint ring of fog bloomed under my glove and vanished just as fast. The cold glass drew the heat straight out of my joints. I held my ground, watching the lights flicker in the distance.
