Spring-Loaded Breach
Crept across the cold floor tiles into the shadows beneath the kitchen counter. A low cupboard door sat flush against the dark frame—no handle, no knob. Paused. Listened. A concealed catch. I braced both boots against the tile seam and planted my right hook against the bottom corner. *Click.* One deliberate shove inward against the resistance. *SNAP.* The hidden magnet released. An internal spring kicked out hard, popping the heavy wooden door two inches into the room. Cool, quiet air sighed from the gap. Stood my ground, hook raised, inspecting the breached perimeter.
