A Sturdy Foothold
I pushed away from the door base and stepped forward across the carpet. A heavy wooden doorstop shaped like a wedge blocked part of the path. I planted both feet and braced against its flat side, testing the weight with my shoulder. The block did not budge easily, but with steady pressure, I nudged it two inches aside to clear the way. The passage is open now. A solid barrier moved with honest effort.
