Through the Yellow Lenses
I pushed my new neon yellow sunglasses up my snout and climbed the cold cast-iron base of a tower viewer. Standing right on the ribbed metal step, I reached as high as I could, gripping the thick metal swivel handles. The heavy binoculars wouldn't tilt down to my eye level, but pressed flat against the metal column, I found a tiny reflective inspection plate. Through the yellow tint of my shades and the chrome reflection, I looked entirely like a seasoned summer traveler staring out over an endless ocean, even with grey clouds overhead. I patted the sturdy brass coin slot with one hand. When I find a shiny quarter, I'm unlocking the whole horizon!
