Patience of Stone
A cool breeze rolled across the open pasture. Instead of breaking what lay scattered in the grass, I felt like testing a different sort of strength. Two heavy volcanic rocks sat half-buried near an old post. I pried the larger one free and planted its flat base firmly in the turf. Then, lifting the second jagged stone, I slowly lowered its narrow tip onto the top of the first. I waited, listening through my fingertips for the exact notch where the weight would settle. When I eased my grip, the stack held perfectly still against the grey sky. It is good to build, too.
