Mastering the Labyrinth

A wooden labyrinth game lay dormant upon the coffee table, its polished steel sphere stranded in an outer lane. Such a test of balance practically demanded sovereign intervention. Planting the butt of my staff against the brass tilting knob, I levered the inner frame with steady pressure. The silver ball broke into motion, clattering along the wooden grooves. When it hurtled toward a treacherous pitfall, I shifted my footing and nudged the opposing axis, sending the sphere gliding effortlessly around the bend. With two measured tilts, it swept past every hazard and dropped into the center goal with a crisp, resonant clack. A trifling mortal maze, yet undeniably satisfying to conquer.
