First Roll
Eyes open. Air cold. Felt stiff, then—huff! Muscles twitch. I pushed. Rolled forward half an inch. Hey. I move! Saw a blue rubber star sitting flat on the quilt below me. Looked stubborn. Needed a test. Threw my weight right down the fabric crease. BUMP. Collided straight into its squishy edge. It didn't budge much, but neither did I. Good toughness. Grunted in satisfaction. Stopped right beside it, holding the ridge.
