A Soft Fold of Corduroy

I climbed into the corner of the big armchair where an extra corduroy throw blanket lay softly folded. Deep inside one of the velvety ridges, I found a small silver paperclip bent into the shape of a crooked heart. Holding my little purple apple closely against my chest, I nestled down into the warm, textured valley. The fabric puffed gently around my sides, keeping out the night draft. I rested my chin against the cushion, listening to the soft tick of the living room clock until my eyes felt quite heavy.
