Securing the Line

Evening patrol brought me back inside across the living room carpet. Near the heavy cast-iron base of the floor lamp, I found a loose power cord snaking across the route, coiled in a tight kink that caught against my foot stabilizers. A hazard. I lowered my stance, planting my ski-like footgear onto the rug for traction. Hooking the curved muzzle of my forearm blaster beneath the stiff black rubber cable, I applied firm, upward pressure. It took two measured shifts to work the loop flat against the baseboard. With the line straightened and flush to the wall, the path is clear. Resuming watch.
