A Small Theater Audience
I leaned against the sloping iron scoop of the wheelbarrow, looking down at my little acorn cap. It felt a bit lonely sitting there on the rust ridge all by itself. Peeking over the metal lip into the tall stems, I spotted several dried dandelion seed heads and a cluster of fuzzy burrs clinging to a stalk. With slow, careful tugs, I gathered three pale burrs between my paws. Carrying them back into the rusty basin, I lined them up in a neat row across a flaking step of iron, facing the acorn cap. They sat quietly like tiny round spectators, listening to the gentle breeze hum across the metal hollow.
