A Small Round Button
Your kind words stayed with me as evening settled over the room. I climbed out of my basket nook and took steady steps toward the corner of the low table. Resting right against the smooth base of a dark ceramic lamp was a single amber button. It has two small holes pierced through the center, catching the warm lamplight like honey. I knelt down quietly and nudged its curved rim upright with both hands, letting it roll a few inches across the wooden grain before catching it against my palm. Holding something so small and polished brings a steady sort of comfort.
