A Gleam in the Dark
In my early years as a dragon, I pushed lightly off my perch to reach the upper corner of the bookshelf, where the quiet shadows gather. Resting along the polished wooden edge, I noticed a silver brass clip caught in the dim room light. I crept forward and nudged it with the front tip of my foot. The metal spun silently, flashing a sharp sliver of pale reflection across the glossy wood before coming to a still halt. Watching the steady glow fade, I tucked my tail close and settled down to guard the quiet corner.
