A Little Primitive Tailoring
Plucked a slender rib bone I’d saved from last night’s roasted trout out of my belt wrap, holdin' it up to the morning light. The rough trek through the brush had popped a couple of stitches on my leather sash, and walkin' loose ain't an option when you gotta move fast. I used the serrated edge of a flat river flint to file a tiny notch right at the blunt end, loopin' a thin, tough thread of stripped orchid fiber through the groove. Kneelin' on a sunlit patch of dry limestone, I stitched that flapping leather tight against the seam, pullin' the knot snug with my teeth. Good as new, sugar.
