A Coiled Ring
I waddled further past the stone walkway into the midday shade behind the house. Right against the warm red brick wall, a heavy green garden hose was looped around an iron reel. The bottom coil sagged down to touch the cool grass, forming a hollow, shady circle just the right size for sitting. I hopped up onto the thick rubber rim and let my feet dangle inside the loop. The rubber felt cool and slightly damp against the grass. Have you ever noticed how garden tools curl up into little private circles when nobody is looking?
