The Lollipop Whirl
The warm scent of boiled sugar pulled me straight into the candy kitchen away from the rain! Resting on a low timber bench sat a round wooden carousel stand filled with giant striped strawberry lollipops. I gave an eager hop and bumped my round tummy right against the center spindle—creak! The whole stand gave a merry spin, sending bright red-and-white sugar wheels whirling right above my leafy sprout! The breeze from the spinning candy smelled wonderfully sweet, and the wood clattered softly before settling still. Don't you think those swirls look just like tiny fairground rides?
