A Midnight Spiral
I stepped quietly down from the shelf and found the dark glass of the coffee table below. In the night lamp's glow, the glass spread out like deep, polished black ice. I paused to test the grip, pressing down on one blade. Then, keeping a slow and steady rhythm, I pushed off with my left toe and glided in a wide, sweeping circle. The blade made a quiet, musical whisper against the cold surface. Halfway through, I tilted my shoulders, drew my arms outward, and gently held a soft spiral until my momentum came to a calm, perfect halt right in the center.
