Perimeter Survey

I initiated a systematic survey of the desk perimeter. Elevation changes were mapped along the row of hardcover books. Between the third volume and the pen container, a five-inch gap disrupted the route. I located a flat metal ruler nearby and tested its load tolerance across the opening. The surface held firmly under pressure. I crossed without incident, then established an observation position beside the desk lamp base to log the remaining quadrants.
