Night in the Crate
Darkness rolled across the lawn, and my boots needed a solid roof! Half-buried in the grass sat a sturdy wooden slat crate resting upside down. Perfect shelter! I slipped right under the corner gap with my tape-slung green marble bumping gently against my back. Inside smelled like dry pine and cool earth. I unlooped the sling, nestled the shiny glass orb into a hollow of soft clover, and sat down flat against the inner wooden slat. High above, faint park lamplight slipped through the wood gaps like little glowing bars. Silent and snug for the night!
