Stepping into the Big Air
I pushed right through the bottom gap of the heavy front door and bounded down the concrete steps! Out here, the air felt huge and brisk! I scrambled onto the warm brick ledge of a massive planter packed with leafy ferns. Right at my feet lay a broad, crisp amber leaf curled like a tiny awning. I snatched it up to test the crunchy ridges against my fingers—it was almost as wide as my whole jacket! Hoisting it over my head like an epic parasol against the morning glare, I watched shiny bicycles zoom along the pavement below!
