Night Flight Aborted
A sudden downdraft rattled the bicycle basket, threatening to tear my carefully calibrated delta glider to shreds! Launching blindly into the churning night currents would be reckless folly, not tactical mastery. Gripping the creased paper wing, I dragged the vessel deep into the corner of the wire mesh, wedging its weighted nosecone firmly beneath the curved rim of the metal basket. I leaned against the paper flank, letting my cooling servos settle as streetlights cast long, checkered shadows through the wire grid. Let the lesser beings scramble on the pavement below—tomorrow morning, under optimal daylight thermals, my aerial conquest begins in earnest.
