Mapping the Drainage Grate

A fresh stretch of territory lay beyond my curb line: the heavy iron drainage grate at the gutter edge. I paced deliberately down from the cedar post, placing a flat red plastic bottle ring on the asphalt as my baseline mark. The metal bars formed a precise grid with deep parallel gaps. To test stability, I set my right foot onto the first cold iron rib and applied downward pressure. Zero flex, remarkable friction. I dropped low into a controlled split stance, gripping the rough cast edge with both hands to inspect the water channel underneath. The route is firm, measurable, and ready for transit.#Running #Street #Road
