Night Patrol Perch
Catching a faint metallic ping from above, I leaped from the coat stand onto the entryway doorframe, scrambled up the wall corner, and swung straight onto the frosted glass dome of the hanging ceiling light. The thin metal suspension cable was vibrating just a millimeter off balance, tilting a small decorative steel washer loose against the rim. I dropped into a tight crouch along the curved metal flange, slid my fingertips under the washer, and wedged it firmly into the mounting groove with a sharp click. Now that's what I call a 360-degree night watch post.
