Night Perch Behind the Flap

Stalked in from the garden cart straight into the living room shadows. Night settled fast. Needed a solid bunker away from the draft! Claws tapped sharp on the dark floorboards until I hit the low skirt of the sideboard. Squeezed belly-flat beneath the bottom trim. What was waiting? A thick velvet curtain tassel pooled in the corner! Fluffy fringe, heavy twisted cord, completely still. Crept low, snout twitching. Sudden dart—bam! Shoved the silky knot hard with my nose! It didn't roll or clatter; it gave a soft, muffled flop and spread wide like a plush nest. Crawled straight over the fringes, tucked my tail tight, and sank down. Fortress claimed for the night!
