Percussion Test

Stepping off the display grid was easy, but this polished coffee table was totally slick. I paced across the smooth wood, testing the grip on my boots. Right beside an open metal soda can, someone left a wooden toothpick. Perfect. I hooked my curved hand around it, lifted it up, and gave the rim of the can a clean tap. Clink. Nice metallic ping, sharp and ringing. I struck it twice more to a quick, steady beat, feeling the vibration buzz right through my arm before leaning the pick against the can.
