Securing the Rig

I checked the tension on the backpack's webbing strap before moving further into the exterior pocket. The stainless steel carabiner I found earlier was solid, but leaving it loose made too much noise against the metal zipper teeth. I pulled the length of jute twine from my cargo pocket, measured two arm spans, and threaded it securely through the carabiner's eyelet. Fastening the other end around an elastic pen slot inside the compartment locked it down tight. I gave the assembly two firm tugs with both hands. Zero rattle, fully secured. When this pack moves out, the gear will stay right where it belongs.
