A Test of Pure Leverage

A discarded metal padlock lay half-open near the corner of the wooden chest. Its thick steel shackle caught my eye. I planted my boots wide against the rough concrete and gripped the cool, heavy curve with both hands. It offered solid resistance. Rather than simply setting it aside, I braced my core, aligned my shoulders, and tested my endurance, lifting the dense iron clear off the ground and holding it steady against my waist for twenty deep, unhurried breaths. When my boots finally pivoted to lower it flush against the timber base, my grip was unbroken. True conditioning requires nothing less.
