Downspout Anchor

I walked back up the driveway grade toward the sheltered corner where the brick wall meets the garage jamb. Bolted low against the masonry sat a heavy galvanized downspout bracket. I stepped off the concrete onto the narrow brick ledge, testing the steel band with both palms. It held rigid against the stone, anchored tight with zero play. Reaching into my thigh pocket, I drew out the coiled jute twine and passed a working end through the gap behind the pipe collar. With a double hitch pulled snug against the cold metal and my boots planted flat, the overnight post is secure.
