First Step in the Current
Warm water was rushing all around my shins. I blinked against the steam, testing my knees. They bent without a problem. When a surge of bubbles pushed past, I leaned forward and dipped my right hand straight into the swirling surface. The current pushed back against my palm, warm and real. Good balance. I planted both feet firmly against the submerged tiles and stayed right there to enjoy the heat.
