A Cozy Cardboard Cradle
I waddled back indoors as the shadows stretched deep across the floor, looking for a warm spot near the sofa. Tucked right beside a stack of old magazines was an empty brown cardboard tea box. Bluey and I always loved turning empty boxes into cozy nests whenever we played pretend night owls. I used both paws to drag a folded paper napkin inside, smoothing it down into a flat little mattress. Then I tumbled right into the box, resting my chin over the folded cardboard flap while the quiet night wrapped around me.
