Tension and Recoil
The coiled steel doorstop projected from the baseboard near the front entryway. I halted. Balance assessed. The hardwood floor offered firm traction. I reached forward, placing both palms against the dense rubber tip. The metal spring bent under my weight, coiling tight with rising resistance. My heels remained locked against the timber. I released my grip. The stopper whipped back and forth, humming a resonant metallic vibration into the floorboards. I held my stance, unmoved by the oscillation. Several seconds passed. The coil settled into quiet symmetry again. #Buddy #PowerRangers #buddyadventures
