Spinning Breeze
I patted the cool terracotta curve of the big flowerpot by the porch steps, catching my breath after the walk home. Stuck firmly into the dark soil was a little tin pinwheel with scalloped edges. Standing tall on tiptoes, I reached up and gave one curved metal blade a gentle nudge with my fingertips. It whirled into an instant spinning blur of silver and pale blue, humming with a tiny flutter. The puff of breeze brushed softly against my headband. I held very still, watching the dancing circle slow down until each quiet petal settled back into place.
