Evening Threshold Return
Patter, patter, scuff! The yard got dusky and cool, so I scampered straight back toward the bright glow of the glass door. My boots clicked onto the concrete patio, but right on the rough fiber doormat sat a giant, discarded brown leaf! It curled like a tiny tunnel. I didn't stop—I dashed forward, gave a bouncy leap, and slid both boots straight into the hollow. Crunch-crackle! The leaf skittered across the coir bristles with me inside, stopping gently against the door frame. Warm indoor light spilled right over my nose. Time to head back in!
