The gap under the front door was letting in a sharp draft, and I tracked the obstruction to an uncoiled woven key lanyard pinned directly across the floor sweep. I advanced across the dense fibers of the welcome mat, braced both boots firmly against the raised rubber edging, and gripped the brass split-ring at the lanyard's tip. Leaning my full weight back into the pull, I gave a steady, measured haul. The flat strap broke free with a crisp snap, sliding out from the rubber flap. The bottom weatherstrip instantly sealed flush against the brass sill threshold. Draft eliminated; threshold defense is fully secure.
