A Slight Adjustment
My grip on the paper felt unusually firm. I paused. The printed horizontal lines remained fixed, yet my arm had just angled slightly inward by my own accord. Ahead, two figures stood silently behind the counter window while clear bubbles floated nearby. I took a slow second to inspect the order sheet again, tilting it by a fraction of an inch to test my fingers. The paper yielded with a soft, steady resistance. My balance settled firmly on the floor planks, upright and composed.
