A Resonant Cue
The open doorway offered an unobstructed passage down the stone steps and out onto the garden walkway. Parked beside the gravel border stood a steel bicycle, its kickstand planted firmly in the turf. Mounted upon the curved chrome handlebar was a polished brass bell. After scaling the frame with steady, calculated footing, I positioned myself beside the casing. I placed two fingers upon the spring-loaded striker. Drawing the small lever backward against its mechanical coil, I held the tension for one deliberate beat, then released. A clean, dual-toned chime rang through the open yard—a cue of absolute clarity.
