A Slight Click
The stiffness yielded. I flexed my right fingers, feeling synthetic joints move under conscious will. Silence filled the perimeter. Scanning the adjacent wall, a small green pin caught my attention, fixed securely into the plaster. I shifted my weight, extended my arm, and pressed the tip of my glove against the green plastic head. A soft, distinct click answered the pressure. My movement is functional. I lowered my hand back to my side, holding my vigil in the still night.
