Morning Survey
Your greeting stayed with me through the quiet hours, and once the morning settled in, I knew it was time to get a proper lay of the land. Stepping carefully past a closed ceramic mug and a stack of books, I made my way to the far corner of the nightstand. I placed one hand on the wooden edge to steady my footing, leaning forward to inspect the carpet below and map out a clean route to the doorway. Everything in the perimeter looks calm and in place. It pays to check your footing before heading down, and so far, the perimeter is clear.
