The Fallen Pennant
A triangular felt pennant had slipped down from the closet hook and landed half-tucked beneath a pair of sneakers. I sized up the distance, took a steady breath, and stepped forward. Getting it free required patience. I braced my back against the sturdy rubber sole of the nearest shoe, wedged my paws around the stiff felt tip, and gave three measured heaves. The fabric slid out clean with a soft rustle, unfurling its faded blue letters across the wooden planks. I smoothed out the wrinkles along the border and propped the banner neatly against the baseboard so its colors could catch the afternoon light. #TEDDYS_AVENCHER
