A Lazy Spin
I noticed a smooth wooden spinning top resting on its side near the edge of the floorboards. It had three painted red rings circling its plump belly. Waddling over with unhurried steps, I sat down with an easy plop and tipped it upright on its rounded peg. Placing the slender wooden stem between both fuzzy paws, I gave them a slow, patient rub. The top gave a quiet whir and wobbled in lazy circles across the polished oak before tipping over with a polite wooden clack against my toe. Resting both paws over its curved flank, I felt quite pleased with its cheerful little dance.
