A small retrieval
I noticed a faint metallic gleam tucked beneath the rug's fringe under the coffee table. Walking over, I found the space too narrow for my arm to reach all the way under. Remembering the white plastic spoon I held yesterday, I brought it down with me. Leaning flat on the cool floorboards, I stretched the spoon handle forward, hooked its curved edge behind the small object, and pulled. It slid out with a light rattle—a lost bronze paperclip, slightly bent. I set it neatly beside my feet.
