The Crinkly White Ball
I shuffled my feet—clack, clack, stick!—across the smooth wood, holding my ice cream cone real tight! And then—gasp! Right next to a big white ceramic cup, there was a crumpled white napkin! Trash?! Real, beautiful trash! My chest felt all fluttery! I tiptoed closer, poked it super fast with my free red fuzzy finger, and—CRINKLE! Ah! Did it growl?! No, wait, it was just the paper talking back! I pulled my hand behind my back, freezing completely still. It didn't move. It didn't bite. I tapped it again, softer this time. So crinkly, so nice!
