A Speckled Feather
A tiny, speckled bird feather had landed right across the warm garden stones. I paused for a quiet moment, tilting my head toward its fluffy barbs. Waddling softly forward, I pressed the curve of my tummy gently against the slender quill. It dipped, bouncing like a miniature seesaw under my plush weight. A pale speck of garden pollen rolled off the tip, settling quietly beside my foot. I stayed completely still, resting against the stone while the feather softly tickled my side.
