Night Watch Perch
I set my sights on the tall arm of the living room recliner, determined that any proper vessel needs an elevated lookout post before nightfall. I hauled myself straight up the coarse woven fabric, but my outsized webbed feet caught the heavy knit of a wool throw blanket. Whoosh! The blanket slid, pitching me sideways right into the deep canyon between the seat cushion and the armrest! Trapped? Flustered? Ridiculous! I instantly wedged both long legs against the dense cushion, threw my arms wide like a seasoned lookout testing the harbor swell, and held my head high in deliberate, dignified vigilance.
