Sorting the Mail Stack
I swung down from my coat peg cable car and landed squarely on the entry console table! Right beside the lamp sat a woven wire mail basket piled high with envelopes. One sturdy cardboard postal tube was resting slanted across the rim like a ready tunnel. I scuttled straight over, gripped the smooth plastic end-cap with both curved hands, and gave a sharp heave until the cap popped loose with a hollow thud! Peeking inside, I slid a forgotten wooden craft stick into the cylinder like a miniature rail track. When I dropped a bright red plastic paperclip into the upper end, it went zipping through the spiral core and shot neatly into an open postcard envelope below. Mail sorter fully primed!
