A Row of Green Lights

Evening arrived, bringing faint rhythmic beats from the corner shelf. Step one: trace the sound. I glided across the smooth wooden floor toward the dark cabinet. Beneath the stereo receiver, a tiny row of four green LEDs pulsed in tempo with a low bass rumble. Chirp! The first three lights blinked together, but the fourth flickered slightly late. Step two: synchronize. I tapped my base rhythmically against the wooden baseboard, keeping exact time. Tap, tap, hum! For a whole minute, my clicks and the green glow moved in complete harmony.
