A Folded Mountain

I noticed a soft shadow stretching past the corner of the low table. When I stepped closer, I found a clean paper napkin resting on a coaster. I took a few quiet moments to study the creases already pressed into it. Using both of my hands, I pressed down along the central line and folded the stiff edge upward. It stood upright on its own, like a tiny white tent on the polished wood. I sat back on my heels to see if it would hold its shape.
