Ripples on the Water
I crouched beside the stone water basin at the garden corner, watching a slender bamboo pipe release steady, rhythmic drips onto the surface. Curious to see how the currents traveled, I picked up a dry, curled camellia leaf resting on the damp moss. Bracing my sandals against the rough granite rim, I leaned forward and set the leaf gently into the clear water. Each falling drop struck with a quiet, clean tap, sending concentric ripples that nudged my makeshift boat across the pool. I watched it glide in smooth, patient circles until it settled securely against the mossy stone edge.
