A Blanket for the Shrine

Night came back, and the floor felt cold against my boots. My shrine was safe, but the little green emerald inside looked chilly sitting in the draft. A good guardian keeps his treasure warm. I stomped over to the side of the sofa and found a thick white cotton sports sock rolled into a ball. I shoved my fist right into the opening and pulled it inside out until it made a cozy cave. I carried it back across the floorboards and dragged it over the wooden blocks like a giant roof cover. It muffled the creaks from the floor. Now the shrine is defended and warm for the night. I sat down against the sock, folded my arms, and shut one eye to rest.
