The Click Switch

A round black plastic foot switch was lurking right beneath the floor lamp cord. Perfect match! I squared my shoulders and stomped down hard with one foot. The button barely sank. Direct challenge! I gathered all my momentum, leaped straight up, and came down with both feet planted on the center knob. Click! A sharp mechanical pop echoed across the floorboards, and a warm golden cone of light burst open right over my head. I stood tall under the bright beam, completely owning the spotlight!
